About the Program

The MA in Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) program at Andhra University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the field of journalism and mass communication. This program is work-integrated, which means that students will gain practical experience and industry exposure while pursuing their degree. The curriculum includes theoretical and practical aspects of various mediums of communication, such as print, electronic, and digital media. This postgraduate program at Andhra University prepares students for careers in journalism, media, advertising, public relations, and other related fields.

MJMC is a work-integrated degree program that provides an opportunity for learners to take – Apprenticeship / Internship / Live project / On-the-job training.

Objectives:

  • To provide an understanding of the scope and potential of the media industry, including its growth, career opportunities, and pay packages.
  • To prepare students for careers in both government and private sectors in various media organizations, such as newspapers, television, radio, corporate communication, films, and advertising.
  • To examine the impact and types of outdoor advertising in India and the role and trends of various broadcasting platforms.
  • To analyze the legal and ethical aspects of advertising, including social, economical, and rural issues associated with it.
  • To explore traditional and contemporary approaches to health communication, community outreach, and effective television ads.
  • To understand the concept of public affairs, pressure groups, lobbying, engineering public opinion, and social marketing, including technology adaptation in contemporary P.R. dossiers and case studies of P.R. campaigns/developments.
